13 May Tech Hygiene: Just How Dirty Are You?
I pride myself on a well-timed dirty joke, but there is always a time and place for that special brand of filth. But what about the filth and grime that invade my life—no, I’m not talking about off-colour comments or offensive tweets. I’m talking about the gunk that is smeared across my device screen just waiting to infect me with the black death!
Did you know that your screen is 10x dirtier than a toilet seat?

One would hope that both the toilet seat and mobile would be impeccably clean, but I don’t have one of those fancy Japanese toilets with the turbo jets and disinfecting streams. Sadly I am left with the knowledge that my cell phone is, in fact, a cesspool.
According to a study out of Nottingham Trent University, the average person checks their phone 85 times a day. That means every time you pick up your phone you are transferring bacteria onto your device. From every streetcar handle to staircase railing you are finding new and exciting little microbes to add to your collection.
What exactly is lurking on your precious screen? Fecal matter, E.coli, and 18% of mobile phones are contaminated with staphylococcus.
Are you ready to dump your phone into a vat of hand sanitizer yet?
It might be time to give up the toilet tweeting and those obligatory gym selfies that leave your device drenched in sweat. But all hope is not lost! If you are looking to rid your phone of the plague there is a solution.
Meet Whoosh!, a non-hazardous, non-toxic and environmentally friendly cleaner. It’s safe for all screens, unlike Windex which can strip away your screen’s special coating. It also comes with a microfibre cloth, which won’t scratch your screen. Not only does Whoosh! clean your devices but it makes them shine like new and provides resistance to fingerprints.
So remember if you wash your face and brush your teeth… don’t forget to Whoosh! your screens.
